PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — As the coronavirus pandemic continues, Rep. Elise Stefanik says help is coming to the North Country.
Many are at home waiting for a one-time stimulus check payment issued by the federal government, which is expected to arrive within the next two weeks.
Stefanik is reminding eligible North Country residents to double-check how they will be receiving that money.
If you filed your taxes with direct deposit, it’ll be deposited into your account. The same goes for the people who filed their taxes by mail — that payment will arrive in the in the mail from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Note that it will take longer to get to you if you are receiving the payment by mail.
Stefanik also spoke with NBC5 about COVOD-19 testing in the North country, saying right now she’s actually working to get more tests to the region.
“We are hopeful, we are pushing for increased numbers of testing capabilities in every county in the North country,” said Stefanik.
In the meantime, she’s hopeful local hospitals will rise to the occasion to meet the needs of the community.
