Keeseville, N.Y.– Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, was named a “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). The award was presented for her work in Congress to support small businesses and promote local entrepreneurship.
Small businesses are truly the backbone of our North Country communities and economies, and I am proud to be their number one advocate in Congress,” said Stefanik, who represents NY-21 in northern New York.
The award is presented to Congress members who “voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time,” according to the NFIB. Stefanik voted to support NFIB legislative goals 89% of the time during the current House session.
“Growing up in a small business family, I know firsthand the importance that small businesses have in our communities, and I have fiercely advocated for policies and programs to support them,” Stefanik said Wednesday.
“The COVID-19 pandemic presented real challenges for our local businesses and I am proud to have worked in a bipartisan manner to deliver results for them as they overcame those challenges and continued to provide for the communities who rely on them,” the Northern New York House member added.
In June, Stefanik was endorsed by the NFIB FedPAC. In June, the PAC contributed $1,000 to Stefanik’s “Elise for Congress” reelection committee.
