WASHINGTON, D.C. | The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Franklin County nearly $1 million to help combat local substance abuse and bolster the region’s mental health services.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik announced the federal grant of $997,966 Aug. 23, saying the funds would help improve treatment access and care for North Country residents facing mental health and substance abuse issues.

“I am proud to announce nearly $1 million in taxpayer dollars will be returned to Franklin County to keep our community healthy and safe,” Stefanik said.

“These funds will be used to improve access and reduce barriers to quality health care for residents of the North Country at risk for mental and substance use disorders. I will continue finding ways to deliver solutions for our local mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation centers and programs.”
