WASHINGTON, D.C. | U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik voted to advance legislation that she co-sponsored to address the challenges that American exporters, including dairy producers, have been forced to face when dealing with ocean carriers and related port congestion.
“I am proud to advance legislation to address this supply chain crisis and support producers, especially dairy farmers in Upstate New York and the North Country,” Stefanik said following the June 13 vote.
“This bill will help lessen the United States’ trade imbalance with China by reducing challenges at ports to ease significant supply chain disruptions and help American producers export their products. As Joe Biden’s failed policies create crisis after crisis for Americans, I will continue to push for solutions to address these challenges and create a more efficient supply chain.”
The Ocean Shipping Reform Act (S. 3580) addresses the ongoing supply chain crisis. It will ensure a more competitive global ocean shipping industry, protect American businesses and consumers from price gouging, and establish reciprocal trade opportunities to reduce the United States’ longstanding trade imbalance with export-driven countries like China.
