A recent letter to the editor, (“We need a change,”June 8, Jennifer Zahn), presented a hodge-podge of half-truths and innuendos. Her letter is trying to indict Republicans and in particular, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, for the lack of an assault weapons ban and for being pro-life. Jennifer mixes up the assault weapons issue, the pro-life issue, issues with states for various gun ownership requirements, and the mask-wearing issue during the pandemic. Whew! No way one can follow this diatribe.
In the meantime, Jennifer misses the serious conditions existing in this country, due to the total lack of ability by Biden and his administration. Americans are suffering from what U.S. Customs and Border Protection figures now show — more than 2 million unauthorized migrants came across the Mexican border just last year, overwhelming the meager border patrol and saturating our social services; record-breaking gas prices following Biden’s shut down of our domestic oil production; the baby formula shortages, which were known well in advance of the news media coverage; and too little, too late weapons assistance to Ukraine.
Yes, Jennifer, as you suggest, we need a change. I look forward to the November elections when the House and Senate will swing over to Republican control, and bring our country back to prosperity. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is a strong voice at the forefront of the criticism of the Biden administration for its ineptitude in dealing with these American issues. Thanks to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and the other brave Republicans, those already in Congress and those running for a seat in Congress, for standing tall against this terrible administration.
Everyone, of course, is entitled to their own opinion and that is what makes this country great.
Sincerely,
Keith Wells, Saranac Lake
