The Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention Act is an important piece of bipartisan legislation that I was proud to support. This legislation will provide resources to combat the tragedy of our nation’s veterans committing suicide while waiting for the care they need.

When I came to Congress, I promised to be a strong voice for Fort Drum and to work across the aisle to protect and strengthen this critical installation. From my seat on the House Armed Services Committee, I led the fight to protect Fort Drum from potentially devastating cuts and have fought to strengthen our military readiness. I will continue to fight for Fort Drum every day that I serve you.

I fought to ensure that Fort Drum received an on-time transfer of Apache helicopters in order to see that our 10th Mountain Combat Aviation Brigade continues to be well-trained and equipped. Any delay would have had grave consequences on the 10th Mountain’s readiness and deployment schedule. 

I proudly hosted President Trump at Fort Drum, where he signed the national defense bill into law. As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I co-wrote this legislation that delivered the largest pay raise to our troops in almost a decade.

As the home of Fort Drum and the Kesselring Navy nuclear site, our district knows firsthand the critical role military families play in supporting our troops and providing for our national defense. Military families make great sacrifices when relocating and transitioning to new schools, jobs and communities, and we must do all we can to help ease their burden. My legislation, which was signed into law, provides military families with needed flexibility during the transition to a new Permanent Change of Station. 

Military spouses frequently face challenges in the workforce as a result of their spouses’ service. Legislation I’ve introduced aims to increase employment resources and expand job opportunities for military spouses. Military spouses serve too, and it’s critical that we work to ensure these brave men and women have the jobs they need and deserve. I was proud to see this initiative signed into law in the national defense bill this year.
